Studio City/Sherman Oaks Residents Orchestrate Car Free Sunday on September 22

All Day Event Coincides with International Car Free Day

WHAT:    Car Free Sunday Studio City/Sherman Oaks on Sunday, September 22, 2013 is a day to leave our cars at home.  Walk or bike in your neighborhood to shop, visit, picnic, exercise, run errands, and help the environment.  This day has been organized by a group of Studio City and Sherman Oaks residents and coincides with International Car Free Day.

WHY:   To raise awareness of the need to reduce traffic congestion and create a greener environment.

WHO:

Community Organizations: FAST (Fixing Angelenos Stuck in Traffic) is a community partner in this event, and the Studio City Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles City Council Representative Paul Krekorian's office, the LA River Revitalization Corp., Save LA River Open Space, Studio City Residents Association, along with other community organizations, have joined forces to support this effort.

Studio City and Sherman Oaks Businesses: To encourage people to shop and dine without using their vehicles on September 22, local Studio City and Sherman Oaks businesses are offering special promotions to those participating in Care Free Sunday.  Just WEAR BLUE and mention Car Free Sunday to receive these promotions.  An Online Map of all participating businesses will be provided.  Some of these business supporters and sponsors include Architexture, The Bike Connection, Big Sugar Bakeshop, Brandy Melville (Studio City), Dari, Dungarees, Ferrari Olive Oil, Glow Skin Care, Henry Road, Jamba Juice (at Laurelgrove and Ventura), Kalologie, Ye Olde Kings Head, Lucky Puppy, Mind 2 Body, Nesmon Café, No Roses Gallery, Peets Coffee and Tea (Studio City), Pinz, Pizza Rev (Studio City), RoadRunner Sports, Robyn Davis:: Being, Smoke City Market, Spoonful, Tuning Fork, WeShareMedia, Yoga Shelter and Xtreme Desserts.

10 a.m.-3 p.m: Information about Car Free Sunday activities and special promotions will be available at the LA River Big Toad Gate (at Laurel Cyn. and Valleyheart).

11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Come to a Community Picnic adjacent to the LA River on Valleyheart between Laurel Cyn. and Radford, just south of the Radford Art Walk.  Several of our community supporters will have information and representatives in attendance.  The picnic is BYO (please purchase from one of our business supporters).
